INTRODUCTION

CaseLine: Malignant Melanoma is a dynamic, interactive, online case-based learning tool designed to give oncology healthcare professionals the opportunity to practice clinical judgment skills through a number of patient case scenarios. CaseLine combines video presentations by expert faculty, cutting-edge research and evidence, and real-world challenges and questions to create a learning environment focused on improving patient care, as learners are guided through the exploration of different treatment and management strategies. CaseLine may best be described as personalized learning, as it affords learners the opportunity for individual identification of educational needs that guide therapy decisions.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The intended audience for this initiative is medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists, as well as oncology specialty pharmacists charged with the care of patients with malignant melanoma.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Explain melanoma biology and the rationale for the development and integration of novel therapies in the treatment of melanoma
  • Describe advances in the development and integration of therapy for the management of patients with early stage malignant melanoma
  • Compare efficacy and toxicity results from clinical trials evaluating therapies in the management of advanced malignant melanoma
  • Analyze patient scenarios exemplifying various patient- and disease-specific features, providing information for interpretation and application of data
  • Compare the mechanisms of action, treatment response patterns, durability of response, and adverse effects associated with treatments of malignant melanoma
